Congratulations Barry Aarons

Solve volunteer Barry Aarons is this year's recipient of the Ern & Les Rothschild Volunteering Award. This award was established in 2015 in recognition of the extraordinary voluntary and financial support provided to Solve by Ern & Les Rothschild over many years. It is awarded annually to a volunteer who has shown great commitment to Solve and our clients.

Barry joined Solve in 2002 and has worked on over 70 projects during that time. He is the sort of volunteer who gives Solve its good reputation. He has displayed humility, flexibility and reliability, and always keeps the best interests of the client foremost. He works towards the best solution, not the most familiar or convenient and his projects are always finished in a timely manner.  He has been heard to say “If you want a job done, give it to a busy man”. He is proud of his work for Solve although he is modest when describing his successful projects to others. His clients have frequently commented on his courteous and modest approach as well as the quality of his work and their satisfaction with the outcome.

Barry started his working life as an instrument maker before his interests in electronics led to a career in computers and instruments. He eventually established his own company where we worked until retiring in 2002.

"I enjoy contributing to a community service with a difference," says Barry. "That allows me to use my experience and skills to help people do things that most of us take for granted."

Congratulations Barry - a very deserved winner!
